Hello again and I hope you're having a good week? Work is crazy busy right now so it's. little tricky to be able to fit everything in as I'd like but alas, I'm trying!
Let's talk about this shirt, because I flippin' love it! This Saint Laurent baby of mine was purchased at the incredible Bicester Village outlet, for a ridiculous discount I may add. When I say ridiculous I mean, I paid about £70 for it in the 'sale' when it retailed at something crazy like £400+. It's expensive anyway for such a lightweight fabric but, I think we all know what grabbed my attention... That. Print. Honestly, from the second I tried it on, I knew I couldn't leave it behind. But, despite all the things I absolutely and utterly adore about this shirt, it has one major flaw - it's dry clean only!
Me being the idiot I am, only managed to spill something down it and get a mark on (of course) the white part of the print. I think I cried inside for about a week and despite my best efforts, I obviously couldn't get the mark out... Queue my knight in shining armour - Ihateironing.com. They contacted me to see if I wanted to try out their service and do a review for you guys. As my beloved YSL shirt needed some much needed attention and throw in the fact I flipping hate doing my own washing/drying/ironing, I jumped at the chance!
They (ihateironing.com) recently expanded their service to Birmingham (click here to take you to the Birmingham site but some other cities are also covered FYI) I would honestly, whole heartedly recommend the service. Before sending my clothes I was told I needed to separate my clothes into bags of what I wanted done (in my case I literally chucked it all into a carrier bag, labelled it 'dry cleaning please!' and hey presto!) I arranged a time and date that was suitable for me, for them to collect my items from my doorstep - honestly, this part was an absolute god. send. I have a nightmare getting parcels delivered to my flat as there's no concierge and as I work in Milton Keynes, so I need a super flexible service when it comes to collections and deliveries.
They offer tons of services (from ironing, dry cleaning and laundry services etc) and one of the things I loved about it was the communication. After my order was collected, I was sent an invoice with a break down of my items, what service I was having done, the price for each item and the total cost. Then after my dry cleaning was finished, but before it was returned to me, they really thoughtfully sent me an email to advise that they had tried their best but not all of the marks on my items had come out. When I get my pieces back I wasn't sure what this email was about as everything looked immaculate but, I just thought it was so thoughtful. Considering most dry cleaners don't really give you the time of day, it's a really personalised service and I loved that!
And, in the meantime, try to remember to use a napkin whilst eating messy food in expensive clothes to avoid above disasters...
